Win a Car Featuring AOL Autos Technology of the Year!

After a year long search, AOL Autos announced the winner of our first Technology of the Year Award at the 2013's International Consumer Electronic Show (CES) earlier this week. Chrysler Group's Uconnect Access edged out more than 35 other entries to snag the title.
The judges, including editors from AOL Autos, Autoblog and Engadget, awarded the top prize to Uconnect Access which gives users one-button emergency assistance, voice-controlled text messaging, vehicle performance monitoring, a voice-activated smartphone app that allows locked doors to beopened when keys are locked inside and more great assistive technology.

We're so excited about the technology; we'd love for you to try it out too. Starting this week, we're giving you a chance to win your own installation of Chrysler Group's Uconnect Access, inside a brand new car, of course! To celebrate the award, we're giving away a 2013 Dodge Dart Limited, worth more than $23,000.

AOL Autos Giveaway and MINI Take the States

AOL Autos, the leading auto research and news channel on the Internet, began a new program, "AOL Autos Giveaway," where we will periodically giveaway some of our favorite vehicles to our loyal readers. The kickoff of the program resulted in the giveaway of a 2012 MINI Countryman to a 19-year old pre-med student from Michigan State University. Jasneet was the lucky winner who simply "Liked" AOL Autos on Facebook and filled out a short, simple form on our Facebook page and was randomly selected for the giveaway!

AOL Autos chose the MINI Countryman for its first giveaway due to the positive experience the AOL Autos team had as part of their long-term test drive, and to commemorate MINI USA's 10th anniversary. As part of the anniversary, AOL Autos' senior editor Scott Burgess, assistant editor Colin Croughan, and I traveled through 16 states and almost 4,000 miles as part of the road rally, "MINI Takes the States," which kicked off in New Jersey on July 4 and finished in Los Angeles on July 15.

AOL Autos Launches Technology of the Year Award

AOL Autos announced at CES this week the creation of the Technology of the Year Award to recognize the best technological innovations in the auto industry. The winner will be announced at next year's CES.

The technology that auto companies are putting into car and trucks to make them behave like rolling smartphones is becoming the key differentiators on quality – systems like Ford's Sync and Cadillac's new Cue and Hyundai's Blue Link and even GM's well-established OnStar. Throughout the year, AOL Autos, Autoblog and Engadget will report on new systems and significant upgrades like these from automakers and suppliers at autos.aol.com/award.

Editors from AOL Autos, Autoblog and Engadget and a group of industry experts will review the new offerings and select finalists in three categories – telematics, connectivity and active safety – that will be announced at the Los Angeles Auto Show Nov. 30-Dec. 9. Then the public will be invited to vote along with the panel of editors and experts to choose the winner.

We figure we have the best people in the industry to test the systems, grade them and then communicate our findings. I love the fact that we're able to link the expertise of AOL Autos, Autoblog, Engadget and The Huffington Post into one very smart service-oriented award program and content hub for our readers. It's worth noting that we aren't all tech geeks and early adopters – some of us on the judging panel struggle with new applications and interfaces just like anybody else. Heck, I still make a daily to-do-list on an envelope and slip it into my breast pocket...
