AOL Advertising Welcomes Marta Martinez As Head of Sales Strategy and Operations

AOL Advertising is excited to welcome Marta Martinez to the team as Head of Sales Strategy and Operations. In this newly developed position, she will play an instrumental role in continuing to execute our sales strategy.

Marta joins AOL Advertising from MediaMath, serving as both Senior Vice President of Business Development & Operations and Chief Marketing Officer. Previously she was SVP, Global Corporate Development at HavasDigital.

Marta is a well-known, seasoned executive with deep programmatic and marketing solutions experience and a true innovator in the world of online advertising. She has a proven ability to translate complex advertising technology solutions into tangible benefits for marketers and agencies. We are lucky to have her on our team!

Three AOL Leaders Named Top Executives in Their Fields for 2012

We are excited to announce that ExecRank has named three of our AOL executives to its list of Top Executives for 2012 in a range of categories!

Artie Minson, former AOL CFO and now Chief Operating Officer, was featured at number 94 out of 250,000 CFO's in the country. "This accolade from ExecRank is a reflection of all of the hard work my five thousand teammates have put in at AOL and I am honored to accept it on their behalf," said Minson.

Jim Norton, SVP-Head of Advertising Sales, came in at number 6 out of 15,000 sales officers across the nation. After receiving the news Jim stated, "At AOL, we partner with the world's top advertisers and this recognition is validation that our teams are providing exemplary service and advertising innovation that will continue to drive significant value for our clients."

ExecRanks also listed Matt Kelpy as number 123 out of 30,000 Chief Accounting Officers in the U.S. Kelpy said, "I can't say enough about the dedication & effort of our accounting & shared services team every single day, as this recognition is a reflection of those outstanding contributions! I'm thrilled that our efforts were recognized in the Execrank selection process, and humbled to be included in such distinguished company."

The rankings are a result of two years of research and feedback from evaluation committees and top executives that produced an algorithm for how to rank Top Executives based on their performance in 24 different key areas.

AOLers Build Hope for People in Need

AOL is in the business of helping people, and a bunch of AOLers lent a hand to build gifts for those in need during AOL's Epic Sales Conference in December. Many members of the AOL Sales and Advertising teams took time out of the day to handcraft rocking chairs, wheelchairs, bicycles and more, to give to those in need during the holiday season.

These gifts will benefit both Big Brothers Big Sisters by giving bicycles to children on the waiting list for a proper big brother or sister and the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center by donating wheelchairs to a hospital with a surplus of veterans and a shortage of wheelchairs.

We'd like to take a moment to thank these great organizations for the work that they do and for their help in making this happen.

AOL UK Wins Two Prestigious IPA Media Owner Awards

Earlier this week, the AOL UK sales team attended the IPA Media Owner Awards, where we won two awards for Most Innovative Online Campaign and Best Partner. Our team was also nominated for the Best Media Owner and Best At Innovation awards.


We won the Most Innovative Online Campaign for our Inspired by Iceland campaign, which was a huge cross-departmental effort in covering editorial, sales, publishing, creative solutions, research, go viral, Advertising.com and communications. It was our first sponsored channel on Huffington Post, the first Project Devil unit to use a live camera feed and our first Pan European campaign using our whole range of advertising products.

The Best Partner award is significant in that it is voted for by the advertising agencies in the IPA Spring and Autumn surveys. In the survey, we were the best received online publisher with agencies, marking a return to the top spot. The judges praised AOL stating:

"To understand why AOL does so well, you only need to look at the breadth and strength of their performance across all questions on the Spring and Autumn 2012 surveys. It is difficult to find any criteria in either survey where AOL does not appear in the Top Five places."

ADTECH Names William Schmahl Head of U.S. Sales


ADTECH, the international provider of ad serving solutions and a division of the AOL Advertising.com Group, today announced Will Schmahl as the company's new Head of Sales for US operations. Schmahl has been at ADTECH since 2007 and will now progress to take over nationwide sales operations, lead the team and continue to build the brand within the publisher, agency and advertiser communities to drive sales across the country.

Schmahl has delivered outstanding results and demonstrated growth within a variety of different roles over the past 5 years including sales development, revenue management and market share growth. Prior to joining ADTECH, Will held sales positions in the display-advertising technology space, developing extensive knowledge and experience with ad networks, exchanges and online advertising specific to publishers and agencies.
