HuffPost UK and LinkedIn Conduct Poll Around London Mayoral Elections

Ahead of the London mayoral elections next week, The Huffington Post UK teamed up with LinkedIn to conduct an opinion poll asking London based professionals to voice their opinions on the widely debated topic of supporting business in the capital. Out of almost 1,000 London voters, 35% felt that job creation was the most important factor in supporting London businesses.

The poll findings come as it's revealed that Britain is back in recession, with recent figures showing that London has the second highest unemployment rate of any British region. Those aged 18-29 were the most vocal on the subject of job creation, with this age group making up the majority of those keen for it to be the new Mayor's top priority and reflecting the high levels of youth unemployment blighting the capital.

The poll also revealed that improvements to transport links and entrepreneurial support were of equal importance to voters, with each receiving 19% of the votes respectively. A further 14% of voters felt that crime and security should be the next mayor's priority, whilst the remaining 12% believed infrastructure should be the focus of our next mayor's efforts.

Editions by AOL Introduces New Features and Advertising

AOL's popular iPad magazine,Editions, was recently updated to include advertising. Starting today, the magazine will include full-page ads that mirror what readers are used to seeing in a traditional print magazine.

Each Edition will have one-to-three digital ads that appear between sections of the magazine – mirroring what a reader might see in a traditional print publication. Some of these ads will be powered by Cooliris, a digital media company that turns digital content into immersive visual experiences that increase user engagement.

In addition to ads, Editions was also updated to include integration with LinkedIn and the ability read the app in landscape mode. Users can now sign-in to their LinkedIn account through Editions, and can also share articles from their daily Edition to their LinkedIn network.

"Editions is ever-evolving – we take to heart every single piece of feedback we get from our users," said David Temkin, Head of Mobile at AOL. "Landscape mode and LinkedIn integration are two of the most requested features for the app, so we are excited to bring them to Editions and give our users exactly what they want."
