Renowned Artist Unveils Cityscape Mural at London HQ

Equipped with paint pens and 84 hours, acclaimed artist Chris Dent created a mural for AOL's London Office on Capper Street. The black-and-white mural was commissioned by the AOL Artists Program – which promotes talented artists across the globe by curating original works of art for AOL worldwide – to be a focal point for our London office's staff and visitors.

The mural captures the urban landscape and AOL's presence around the globe, featuring 15 famous landmarks, including The Shard and Gherkin in London, Eiffel Tower in Paris, Chrysler and Empire State Buildings in New York, Berlin TV Tower and CN Tower in Toronto.

Prior to the Cityscape Mural, Chris designed two cityscape canvases that form part of the AOL Artist canvases, which now includes over 150 pieces of work. Based out of his East London studio, Chris has been featured in American Vogue, Metropolis Magazine and Wallpaper*, and has had solo shows in London and Paris.

Want to get a play-by-play of the mural creation but don't have 84 hours to spare? You can watch the four minute version here.

AOL Canada Ranked One of the Best Places to Work

AOL Canada is proud and honored to have been recognized as one of the Best Workplaces in Canada, ranking fourth on this year's list.

This list of "Best Workplaces in Canada" is compiled by Great Place to Work® Institute Canada. The competition process is based on two criteria: two-thirds of the total score comes from a survey completed by a random selection of employees, along with their open-ended comments about their organization; the remaining one-third of the score comes from an in-depth review of the organization's culture, including an evaluation of HR policies and procedures. This offers a rigorous representation of the organization from an employee perspective, and an overall portrait of the workplace culture.

This award just helps to validate our approach to the workspace. We are dedicated to encouraging a positive work environment with initiatives such as work benefits, health and fitness programs, charity work and educational opportunities. With a dedicated leadership team led by Graham Moysey, general manager of AOL Canada and SVP of AOL Global O&O, we embrace a transparent strategy that includes all employees as thought leaders and contributors.

We're especially excited to win this award in the midst of huge growth over the past three years, - we now have offices in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver.

Irish Eyes are Smiling

AOLers across the world are gearing up for the holidays this season, from themed parties and decorations, to fundraisers and company events. However, we'd have to rank the AOL Ireland team towards the top of the list for most festive.

Why? Think big. The team has completely transformed the side of Dublin's Boland's Mill building into a gigantic 3D winter wonderland. This stunt is part of a brand awareness campaign for the Dublin team, which is currently recruiting 35 software engineers to join AOL in the new year.

Using state-of-the-art 3D mapping and high-powered projectors, the former flour mill will be lit up for 12 days with stunning holiday animations, providing a festive spectacle for residents and visitors of Grand Canal. In addition to the visual promotion, the campaign has a heavy social media element displaying the hashtag #merryaol on the projected screen to capture the reactions of those passersby who are inspired to Tweet.

Want to learn more? Check out the video from the launch evening below and watch additional videos from the stunt over the next 12 days on AOL Ireland's Facebook page.

AOL Team London Kicks Off for Charity

London has definitely not been a stranger to sporting achievement this summer, and this weekend AOLers in the London office made sure the success continued.

A team of AOL soccer heroes came together last Sunday, September 9th, to play in a charity five-a-side tournament to raise money for Centrepoint, an award-winning nonprofit organization, based in Central London, that works tirelessly to support homeless youth. Since its creation in 1969, the charity has helped more than 75,000 young people realize their potential and, through collaboration and influencing government policy, Centrepoint continues to move towards its goal of ending youth homelessness.

The annual event attracted 32 teams that battled it out under a scorching sun to become the ultimate champions. London's AOL dream team, won their group stage matches to make it through to the final eight and the all-important knockout stage, where they were sadly beaten by Centrepoint's own team 4-2 in a thrilling match.

However, the day was a resounding success, with more than £10,000 raised for the charity in their biggest tournament to date.
